Lightweight endpoint for dashboard/widget UIs — returns the next N confirmed appointments sorted by startTime ascending (nearest first), default limit 5. Tentative appointments are excluded. Use /calendars/appointments with period='upcoming' when you need full pagination, filtering, or the unabridged appointment payload.
